Autumn/Winter 2010

Welcome back, I hope you all had a great summer break and managed to find some sunshine! Here at Beavers we are starting our autumn programme and are looking forward to a number of fun activities. As the weather is still fairly predictable and the evenings remain light, we’ve planned to be out of the hall for some activities, so please check the programme for details on where we’ll be meeting.

Last term we welcomed Seb Holt and Kieran Power to our Colony and this team we’ll be waving a fond farewell our eldest Beavers as the swim up to Cubs.

Last November we helped out the Royal British Legion by selling poppies in Horsham town centre. The unanimous feeling was that it was a big success and we would like to do this again. We still need to make contact with the Poppy Appeal organiser, but most likely the date for your diaries is Saturday 6th November, with a choice of helping in the morning (10am – 12noon) or afternoon (2pm – 4pm). It is a really nice way for the boys to get involved in helping such a worthy cause and we hope that turnout will be high.

Don't forget to check the current programme and parent rota to see when you're down for helping. Subs are also once again due and I have been asked to mention that these need to be paid promptly in September.

As always the success of our programme depends greatly on those leaders and parents who give their time and energy to the Colony – we’re very grateful for your help, and I know the Beavers are too!

Yours in Scouting
The 4th Horsham St John’s Beaver Leader Team
